The location was the best. I could walk everywhere bei feet. There is also a big hospital close by. Ferry, forodhani and the spicy market was very close.

I loved the building itself. The old wooden doors , the amazing brass locks and fixtures. It has such character and emits a vibe like happy people spent time there. The arts community. Its a warm feeling. David , the manager is the best. He made my stay exceptional with his friendliness and kindness. Watch Wazuri!!! Asante Sana David!!!

I really like this property of many reasons. Its got character and its location is perfect. A bit away from the hazzle and buzzle of the city center, but still very close to everything. Theres a very secure ATM machine nearby, walking distance to the ocean, many nice restaurants and cafes, including an Ethiopian restaurant and a very good bakery, the post office and also to the Forodhani park or to the Darajani market. Everything is nearby, still this very area is a bit quiet and beautiful with the hospital nearby and the park just outsidethe breakfast was healthy and good, good service by very nice polite kind and helpful staff. The management is excellent on guard 24/7. The style of the place is a little bit unusual with a very personal touch of mixing cultures, African art together with contemporary art. All in all a very good place to stay, even for a bit longer stay, it almost became like home for us

The staff were nice and helpful. The breakfast was nice and healthy. And you have the best of both worlds at this hotel, down the road you see locals, and down the other side of the road there are touristic places. Restaurants nearby and cash machines can be found. Overall, a good stay!

For the price and for an authentic Zanzibar experience, this was awesome. Breakfast and the host were awesome. Easy walk to the waterfront.

This is an olde worldly hotel with lots of character, African artefacts and paintings on the walls. It was quiet at night. The breakfast was next door, just take an umbrella in case of sudden shower even for short distance. Lovely fresh fruit cereal toast, choice of how you want your eggs cooked. David was very helpful and advised local restaurant etc. I personally recommend Ethiopian restaurant 10 minutes walk away from hotel. Non alcoholic. Lovely views from Verandah of gardens. Wi-Fi in communal room upstairs. Mosquito net provided around bed.

I loved it all, wifi great, air con awesome, location perfect and David the guy at reception was the best, he made it for me..Good sense of humor to! I'd go back anyday to Retro , anyday, I totally enjoyed the breakfast, the room was big..just made my trip...

i like the reception men David...He was very helpful guy....Thanks David for your hospitality.. also the breakfast was good and delicious. the hotel is clean and calm. good value of money the toilet also good there is hot water in the shower.... the hotel is near from downtown.. so it's a nice place to stay in stone city

The hotel is located in a very nice and calm area just near the city center ! The rooms are clean and the breakfast was delicious ! The staff was lovely and even helped us to find a taxi ! 100% worth it ! Go !!

It is an excellent location, WiFi worked very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious. Towels available. Breakfast did just fine! For two very easy going men, our 4 female guests decided against.

Well the Staff at reception was Nice & helpful. Thanks Davy. The room had 2 beds. So reduced spaced! Was clean! Breakfast was fairly good except my scambled egg tasted like fish. Like they cooked with used oil.... breakfat is In the other house top floor. The nice server has to go up & down these extra long stairs. everytime... I liked it fine. For the price as well. I would not mention anything about below little things if the AC had functionned.

Location, breakfast and cleanliness were excellent. Good value for money and really helpful staff. Lots of hot water, clean towels every day and bed made up too. Air conditioning effective. Place quiet and friendly.

It is what you pay for. Breakfast was amazing. But mostly I would like to say Thank you to the main host David, who was there 24/7. He made us feel so welcome and like at home. He helped us with cheaper taxis, tours etc etc. he made a massive difference to our stay. Thank you David. We wish you all the best.
